As we all know, Pink Friday is the first fragrance created by Nicki Minaj and it was first launched on September 22, 2012. The bottle was designed by Lance McGregor of Paul Meyers and Friends. Elizabeth Arden bought the licence for the fragrance, which will be distributed by Elizabeth Arden Inc. to some major retail stores worldwide. Following the success of the Nicki Minaj’s first fragrance, she said she will be releasing a Special Limited Edition in April 2013, called “Pink Friday Special Edition”, which was originally planned for release in May. Nicki’s Pink Friday perfume is nominated for three 2013 Fifi Awards for Fragrance of the Year, Best Packaging , and Media Campaign of the Year.

This is what Nicki Minaj had to say about her thoughts behind, Pink Friday Fragrance “Pink Friday is a celebration of my life at this moment; it is a reflection of me as a creator, and an expression of me as a woman. I know my Barbz will connect with and appreciate each aspect – from the name, to the outrageous bottle design, to the vibrant colors that create their own song. Pink Friday shows off my personality and style; it’s exciting to express my voice through another dimension.”  “I was involved in every aspect of the decision-making process – it seems easy because I always get this feeling inside: I know if something is right or wrong. Each detail needs to ‘wow’ me or it is not an option; that’s my way of composing perfection, says Nicki”. Nicki also revealed, via Twitter, that there will be box sets to coincide with the fragrance. Nicki repackaged the perfume set and it now includes a limited Pink Friday watch.

The fragrance contains scents of , boysenberry, lotus flower, Italian mandarin, star fruit and vanilla. The bottle, was revealed by Nicki through Twitter, looks exactly like Nicki as she appears on the cover of her 2010 album, Pink Friday, though its color scheme incorporates white and more subtle shades of pink. Top notes contains fruity scents like mandarin, heart notes featuring flowerly scents, and dry down becoming musky with creamy scents. Nicki described the fragrance as, smelling like “angels playing”. Pink Friday Special limited edition contains scents of apple, grapefruit, white raspberry, water lily, honeysuckle, jasmine, pear, and musk which Nickij commented adds “a bit of dimension and playfulness to the original scent”.

The official fragrance commercial was released in November 16, 2012, shot by Howard Huang. Which featured Nicki laying in a field of black roses. She then, cuts herself by touching the thorn of a rose, and bleeds of pink blood. The roses then become pink, and so do her eyes, as her skin apparently slowly turns gold, matching the design of her bottle. The perfume bottle is then shown, with the fragrance name being whispered calmly. The commercial features her single “Freedom”.

Couture by Minaj: In January 2013, Minaj revealed that the release of her debut fragrance would make its launch in the United Kingdom, which was revealed to come with a special surprise via her official Twitter by tweeting: “The fragrance launches in the UK this Spring w/a very special surprise that I know you guys will love! We’re currently in the US, CAN, & AUS”. For the United Kingdom release’s of Pink Friday, Nicki released four new bottle designs on March 4, 2013, which were dressed in similar outfits Nicki has worn, all named under the imprint “Couture By Minaj” exclusively sold at Selfridges in the UK. On the exclusive release of the outfits for the UK launch, this is what Nicki had to say “For the Couture the designers took direct inspiration from my outfits, so there is a dark, sexy moment, a fun, pink moment and more of a fairytale, fantasy moment. It’s indicative of my personality; I like to change my hair, my clothes, my makeup a lot. I know my UK fans are getting the scent later, but now they get to pay dress up with it, and no one else does.”

Nicki never fails to deliver on feirceness, drama, fearlessness and beauty. lol. Don’t you just love her…
